prob late to the party on this one but we realized yesterday that the tv world dungeons in p4 are literally just palaces from p5- i think the differences are just the specific circumstances, it's like the exact same phenomenon-

Oooh, definitely glee for the fandom asks! <3
Always with the hornets' nests with these ones, I see! Though i don't think there's a fandom out there that isn't in some way a hornets' nest once it gets large enough... hm. Alright. I'm just gonna be as honest as i can be about this, and tag accordingly.
Glee:
my favourite female character: augh. argh. ouph. so difficult. so hard. Since I'm working off of half-remembered show and half recently-rewatched show... its a tossup. Mercedes, Santana, Quinn. Probably Mercedes. She did nothing wrong ever in her entire life <3 well okay maybe except that one time she smashed kurt's car windows (but it was a banger song, though). Can't say Santana because of the Biphobia TM and other things like excessive use of bigotry-based insults, and Quinn. Oh god girl. Cheating is not cool! Funnily enough! So I find them really interesting but 'favourite' is hard to say. Mercedes. Mercedes for sure <3
my favourite male character: Blaine sam blaine sam blaine sam yes. I am imitating ripping petals off of flowers and coming to a conclusion based on which is the last name i said. So I guess that means Sam! But really this is a tie.
my favourite book/season/etc: Mannnnn idk. I don't like shows for seasons as-a-whole. Also i could not tell you what happened in any given season if you held a gun to my head. I'm not good at that. The only shows i know 'seasons' of are Buffy and Teen Wolf because i've watched them like 100000000000 times (exaggeration) for various reasons (mostly fanfiction research).
my favourite episode (if its a tv show): I can tell you my LEAST favourite episode (blame it on the alcohol, thank you Kurt king of biphobia! this is a persona foible it's not the worst episode in the show. by far. by far. it's kind of an average one. I'm just angry at it.) BUT er. Favourite? Idk. Genuinely some of the earlier Kurt-centric stuff was really well done (his convo with Burt... <3) and the Quinn giving birth accompanied by bohemian rhapsody was obviously iconic, but if I'll be honest I couldn't name any episodes of this show (other than That One previously stated, anyway). And yeah most of the time they were named after song titles and No i don't remember those song titles either. I'm just so bad at this. My memory is that of a goldfish's being haphazardly bounced around on a sieve.
my favourite cast member: it would be really funny if I said Demi Lovato [she counts!] but the truth is N/A: i don't know these people !!! They are strangers!! (i don't. follow celebrities. at all. I couldn't even name most of them. They're just people doing a job and their lives are irrelevant to me beyond their ability to perform that job well. I do not need to know where they live and what coffee they drink. Stalker shit tbh. I'm kind of a very private person myself, so rpf-adjacent stuff just... creeps me out. I've never watched a single cast interview in my lifetime and I'm not about to start!)
my favourite ship: Difficult to say! Grave and obvious lie. Blam. It's blam. Quintana is a close runner up though Santana really needs to stop dating people who cheat on the regular (I'll accept Quinn has grown enough not to do this by the time a Quintana coupling would be viable - and satisfying in terms of character arcs - narratively speaking).
a character I’d die defending: Blaine Anderson did something wrong for sure but like Kurt did it first so shrugs. Cancels out. Bad for each other! Case closed!
a character I just can’t sympathize with: genuinely don't remember if I had one of those the first time around because I was like 10 and just didn't pay attention if I didn't care, but Terri and her racist self take that 'prize' this time, alongside the obvious predator in the room [original choir teacher. Sandy? I forget his name immediately after hearing it. He doesn't deserve to be remembered]. Also JBI is just.... a yikes character all around. I mean, he's a blatant stereotype for one, in a the people who wrote this person don't like jews kind of way. Unfortunately common stereotype too, for the era, so not only is he that, he's also lazy. Just a one-note pervert who's the butt of various antisemitic 'jokes' you've heard from era-peer shows a million times over, tired and awful and a sour reminder of bigotry that continues to this day. Really regrettable character who's lack of redeeming qualities was probably purposeful. (I know Rachel and tina are also jewish, but this comes up very rarely and mostly only when santana needs to say something kind of fucked up, as is her modus operandi, for 'comic relief'. Tina's jewish-ness wasn't even canon for several seasons, because she didn't have a surname or a family or anything resembling complex character depth for several seasons. The one time I really remember Rachel's religion being important was when she was pressuring Kurt into believing in some kind of god, which??? don't do that. Bad example. Trying to guilt trip a friend into faith sucks. I take back what i said earlier Mercedes did that too. Boo. Girls try again that was a bad showing all around. Though i have no idea why Kurt went the acupuncture route as his 'secular' option but i think that has to do a lot with the writers doing literally no research ever once in their lives (you can tell they don't by the way they write the football segments of the show, which make no sense according to football fans who watch Glee, of which there are numerous because real life isn't like fiction where you can only like music or sports. Most of the kids in my school year were doing the most of everything ever if they were the 'popular' ones - we do that differently; popularity isn't really based on who know know; for some bizzare reason literally everyone knew who I was? Even people I'd never spoken to?? - but more about like... how much you can do, I guess. Overachievers, but I'm not saying that negatively; these people were generally - generally - very nice, and surprisingly chill for people who had no spare time whatsoever. I'm not entirely sure when they slept; A* across the board, at least one sport, at least one instrument, several extracurriculars, parties every weekend, dozens of friends and an s.o. . Eh? Way too much going on. Scary lifestyle! Impressive burnout rate, probably. Er. Tangent! Back to the scheduled programming).) There's uhhhh there's a lot of bad characters on the show, but i'd say Sandy and Terri and her equally but more loudly racist sister are truly completely irredeemable ones. Like they're not interesting or anything, they're just there to be narrative annoyances (which, in the case of Sandy specifically, is insane. Arrest that man!!! He has actively sexually assaulted minors!!!).
a character I grew to love: difficult to say because I tend to just make an opinion and stick to it. Also i don't remember who i liked at first and who i didn't, this show came out when i was eight. I didn't watch it until I was a little older than that, of course, but I frankly have spotty memory until my late teens, so! I'm not sure!! Quinn, probably. Pink-hair-era Quinn helped me understand her more, and seeing the moments of kindness hidden behind practical cruelty, when you understand her family and situation, makes things make a lot more sense. It takes a lot to get me to sympathise with a cheater, but I can see where Quinn was getting all turned around in her head about life because of her upbringing and socialisation, not to mention the profoundly negative impact cheerios had on her mentally and that the school's culture in general was not exactly a breeding ground for empathy and optimism.
my anti otp: can you tell (klaine). I don't dislike Kurt!!! Please let him have a fun chillaxed boyfriend in new york with his vogue friends. But also please stop attempting to control other people's diets thank you!! Thank you!! I'm of mixed feelings. Blaine and Kurt both did at least one bad, relationship-ending thing, and proved over and over again that they just weren't on the same wavelength in regards to life goals and ways of living it. They can't even share the same living space, which is kind of required for a functional marriage. I don't know, it just seems like they settled for their first proper, serious boyfriend even if that's not really the best match, and I... wish they'd just got to see more of life first, you know? They got married at like 20! Or something! I'm 23, I cannot imagine getting married at 20. That's a baby. Let them live first!
(same for Santana and Brittney, imo. I also don't really like them together because Santana and Brittney have very different ideas regarding monogamy, which is just never going to go down well in the long run. If your girl cheats on you like twenty times and tells you to your face its not cheating in her view of things, but you think it is, break up with her because you'll just make each other miserable. Brittney sort of seems incapable of feeling guilt but if she were, this kind of moral pressure would be Not Good, and obviously Santana isn't comfortable with the idea and doesn't have to be!! Just move on!!! Find other people!!!! Don't marry your first girlfriend if you've broken up like ten times this is simple!!!! Please!!!! But Klaine wins out over Brittana because - in my opinion, glee fandom please do not persecute me, I am known for this specific thing - I see... interactions that verge on abusive between Klaine that I don't see in Brittana. So. Oof? Ex; use of public perception to disguise attack; deliberately hurting Blaine in a stage-combat fencing match (you are not meant to make actual contact in these) and thus using Blaine's own dislike of making his difficulties common knowledge against him in order to 'punish' him. This is no good! Don't do this!!.[Also just to err vaguepost about a comment.... that is. not. what i would call passive aggressive. Physically attacking someone with a sword - no matter the type of sword, fencing foils hurt just as much, they're just not stab-you sharp... er, these days - is just straight-up aggressive.]).
Note that negative things stick in the mind better than positive ones; on a rewatch I may well alter my opinion!
But also I'm really, really stubborn. So it's not likely. Klaine.
#how the fuck do i tag this#glee#glee shite#ask game#anti-klaine#anti-brittana#anti-kurt#though it isn't because i do like him genuinely one of the better characters. he just... doesn't treat blaine great because they're#fundamentally incompatible romantically. and that's fine! but taking this out on each other isn't.#augh. i hate talking about controversial shit a;lksfja;slkf i used to get So Scared of anon hate mobs you have no idea#if i thought something could get that i simply would never ever not one even dare to think it. let alone say it online in a private forum#(dms with my friends) or god forbid a public post#so. this is growth!#you could say i just got a really weird form of catholic guilt about dissenting from public opinion when i was like 14. you'd also probably#be correct! As I was catholic. And all. Not very devout mind you (did not. go to church.) but still#anyways.#... there's so much i could say about brittany as a character but i'd have to rewatch to make sure i was being accurate about her.#so much that isn't exactly glowing commendation. to be clear.#augh. this show gives me so many very very mean thoughts about it. because it does things so very meanly most of the time#it handles beaste well. Coach Beaste is great. 11/10 character#but so much other stuff it gets just so wrong. just so wrong#(also i never finished the show. actually like genuinely i just missed a whole portion of it. so if they fuck up Beaste at some point I hav#not seen I'll be really really mad.)#(I found out about some of the later events-second hand. i don't 100% know how the brittana marriage goes down but i just... don't like it#as a concept. like at all. they're too young and too unstable for that shit.)#(basically; towards the end i was still watching the show on tv. so i missed whole swathes of episodes thanks to how tv works. do not miss#that headache!)#augh. i should shut up now and go to bed. midnight.)#<3 thanks for the ask! Hope i didn't say anything you disagree with too strongly...

actually it does kind of bother me that people don’t want to talk about how margot verger is a poorly written/poorly adapted lesbian character because we want to like her so bad given her sympathetic circumstances and tentatively happy ending/happy marriage. also because it’s hard to parse if she’s a more or less offensive depiction of a lesbian in the book because she’s a “stereotype” (butch) and it’s implied that she’s only a lesbian because of abuse at the hands of her brother (not an implication they reverse in the show necessarily) and because the writing is both a product of its time (the 90s) by a writer who has previously written transphobic/homophobic tropes (see: the silence of the lambs, which the show does not adapt, which i think was a smart move tbh). but low key wouldn’t it have been cool to have a butch lesbian get a (tentatively!) happy ending in a mainstream horror tv series

While you'd think the relationship would have moved at a truly glacial pace, once together, it's only eh....five or six months before Samuels comes back to their flat with an actual honest-to-god engagement ring. Logically, they're living together, they've exchanged words of intentions for this to be a long term relationship, so he figures he should do this the proper human way.
Unfortunately, Amanda balks at the concept of being/engaged/ because what the fuck, Chris, (not counting cryo) I haven't known you for a year yet??? Poor thing assumes her distaste is because he grossly misread their situation and his place in her life. She has to stress to him that it's not him, not the color of his blood ("Amy, it's not really blood,") just that its awfully fast. Its enough to calm him down but he's still embarrassed, and then the horror of having to return the ring occurs to him and--
"Why would you return it?"
"You said--"
"Hold on to it, for a little while." She never wanted to be anyone's wife, anyone's mother, anyone's possession...But if anyone on the planet would understand the hesitation she had with commitment, it would be the man she helped carve company logos out his fingerprints.
"Do you mean it?"
It breaks her heart, the way he's beaming at her like she actually accepted instead of requesting an extension, but his sheer /joy/ is infectious. He's like her, so very dry and to the point, their shared sense of humor is subtle, sarcastic, and often dark--yet she cracks, and she's giggling. Samuels can't laugh: almost no synthetic can by design, it's too complex of a biological process to bother mimicking but she knows if he could, he'd be joining her.
He over thinks how long "a while" is and goes through a monthly crisis, takes to carrying the ring in his coat, but never asking out of fear it hasn't been long enough. Amanda finds it there one day about four months later, while looking for a missing key. Christopher finds her sitting on the bedroom floor, glassy eyed, coat over her knees, twisting the ring around (of course it fits perfectly he probably laser measured her hands)
"If...you want, you can keep it on." Amanda nods slowly, the realization of the 'yes' sinking in belatedly she she has to stand shakily to hug him. Tightly.

finally watching channel zero and i immediately have so many thoughts in the first ten minutes
#random thoughts#candle cove#okay so first: the fly#obviously represents mike in some way#it was drowning in a glass which was given to him complimentary. something about struggling to feel like he belongs in his life?#like it was something given to him that he does not deserve and does not make him happy#his relationship with his wife is obviously strained. his son is mentioned so far only in relation to his career#though his mother says he's always welcome the framing in the kitchen is claustrophobic#either only one of their faces is in camera very close or they're clustered together in one half of the kitchen#his mother is a foster parent or a teacher of some kind. possibly trying to fill the void made empty#by what she views is the disappearance of both her sons#though mike said his father was out of the picture he seems shocked his mother doesn't have pictures of him around#probably not dead but has left and mike blames her somehow and views his father as blameless#when his brother disappeared mike also lost a mother. and his mother lost both her sons#their dialogue is very. distant and impersonal. no questions about each others' lives. no questions about his wife and son.#and mike seems to struggle with children despite being a child psychologist. in both times we've seen him he's been overly friendly#and strained. in the dream sequence we see him snap at the child to turn the tv off#which is more evidence to the idea mike feels he doesn't belong in his career#he may also be experiencing some kind of depersonalization of others (the mannequins behind the cameras)#possibly believing his actions to ultimately not matter because those there to witness them are not truly people#hope to see what kind of relationships he DOES form or if his sense of relationships has been completely tarnished by his brother's death#subconsciously he fears his childhood home. he possibly knows something about the disappearance of his brother#who he also talks about more as an extension of himself rather than as a seperate entity#so far no puppets. sad!#back to the framing in the kitchen. i think mike views his relationship to his mother as one which is forced#it lacks closeness but they are forced to be part of each others' lives due to the genetic bond between them#his mother fears mike is back to prod at the old wound which is the murders#it seems she's trying to cope by distancing herself and keeping her mind busy with raising children#it's notable the girl calls her miss rather than mom. more distance despite objective closeness#mike may also become jealous of the girl. he seems like he has a strange relationship with the children in his life

I know in the new Famous Five adaptation Quentin told George that she’s a lot like his sister Anne but I really like how when he first bumps into Anne (his niece) in the beginning he almost seems a little hesitant and awkward at first because I bet she also reminds him of his sister and she’s also named after her.
Like the awkwardness is most probably because he hasn’t seen Anne in years but it’s interesting to think that she has his sister’s name and probably looks a little like her too and it might hurt a little.

The minecreft movie looks like ass, not because it looks like ass (though, it does, visually, look like ass) but because kids movies are inherently bad movies.
I think people forget minecreft is a game marketed towards children. I don't, because all the marketing ive seen since i got back into it is very obviously childish, though in a way that is respectful, and doesn't treat it's audience like idiots, so even though it's family-friendly, it's still fun.
The movie is marketed like every other kids movie from the last.. idk.. 10? 15? years? It's loud, obnoxious, and written with a "hello, stupid child, here's your visual noise" kind of way. Its "quirky" "lol, so random" in a way that corporations that don't actually like kids think kids wanna see.
Of course, this is all based off of a trailer, and it might not be as bad as it seems, but It honestly seems like it's just going to be an average kid's movie; a movie what i really just don't wanna see, because those movies tend to be loud and trope-y and clearly made for a much younger audience, and i'd rather watch something else.
I could get used to how it looks. It's ugly, but if the movie looked good, i'd deal with that. I'm just mad, honestly, cause if this looked good visually, noone would care, because kids movies are supposed to be stupid.

since i’ve been enjoying your streams, do you have any streamers to recommend?
hi hi there's a few!
out of the ones i currently watch i've been watching tolomeo for the longest. some might find him too abrasive or edgy but i like the atmosphere, i wouldn't have watched him for so long if i didn't. he plays random weird indie games off itch.io every sunday, and other non mainstream games on other days. he was one of the first people to play/stream f&h, which is how i experienced it. his wife auterbug recently started streaming oblivion and i really enjoyed those too!
ashleyroboto plays a lot of cute games and story games (found out about roots of pacha from her). i like her personality and the artsyness of her stream layout. sometimes her energy is a little too much for me but that's entirely a me problem.
gilticus is that russian trans girl that i mentioned before whose been remodeling an old van. while i don't always like her or her guests' humor it is necessary for me to see other trans russians out and living. and the van progression has been wild. (russian-speaking stream only)
Jadez is an 18+ booby vrchat vtuber. do with that what you will. i usually don't mesh with vtubers but shes funny and trans and i typically have her on in the background, podcast style. :)
i also watch jerma but you probably know him already. that's about it!

In my top 5 favorite recurring bits on Match Game, my number 1 might actually be when Charles Nelson Reilly writes one of his novella answers (especially when it doesn’t match and is way better than the contestant’s answer [I also love Brett’s novella answers but they are almost always So Stupid {affectionate}]).
Match Game ‘77 Episode 992 Question: When 97-year-old Mr. Pervis died, he went out in style. Pervis went backstage at Radio City Music Hall, and the Rockettes _____ed him to death.
Contestant (kind of a dickbag, tbh): Tap Danced
Charles Nelson Reilly:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They high kicked him in their 4th of July costumes on the Nativity set with the orchestra playing to the tune of “Hello, Dolly!”with new lyrics: “Goodbye, Mr. Pervis!”
#match game#charles nelson reilly#I Love him so much#also this contestant… gave a lot of questionable answers and only won two games because his opponent both times blanked out#Fannie gave him both his super match top answers and he still chose Richard for the head to head and he heavily implied it was because#he thought she was stupid. like… she matched with your questionable answers. and 7 times out of 10 she gives a weirdo answer on purpose#so that if some contestant says something off the wall they might have a chance to get a point#like… she isn’t that bonkers irl she’s just creative enough to play so on tv to help idiots like you win money#even though I think he’s overrated there are a lot of qualities I really like about Richard Dawson and one is that he seems to genuinely#think all the other panelists are clever and respects them and hypes them especially Fannie who is often the butt of jokes because#of her match game’s Mae West persona and her spelling and that she’s a good sport#I also love how he always advocates for contestants to get more matches and money. like he really cares that it’s fair and people win#even gene who’s usually pretty neutral when it comes to choosing a panelist for the head to head was shaming this contestant#for discounting Fannie. and the audience was with him—wolf whistling at her a lot and booing the contestant lol.#(the wolf whistles and cat calls were especially 😂 to me because the Pretty Girl was Lee Meriwether Miss America Catwoman)#match game monologue transcriptions nobody asked for#like sure Lee meriwether is easy on the eyes but Our Sex Symbol is goofy lesbian Fannie Flagg 💁‍♀️#they repeated this question on match game syndicated and Again Lee meriwether was the Pretty Girl and Fannie Flagg was the Weird Girl#and the contestant didn’t know who the rockettes were and Fannie made Lee demonstrate with her#needless to say it was a little overstimulating to me

okay i'm trying to catch up on casualty properly, (stopped watching in late 2019 to early 2020 and gotta catch up to roughly mid 2023), and i stopped watching since i was always working on a Saturday and not because i didn't like the show. i loved it and still do despite my numerous issues with it. and lbr it is so easy to see how far the show has dropped off. i'm watching s34 opener rn and how the production has fallen. like we don't get those big set pieces anymore and it has made the show so much weaker as a result.
#jess watches tv#bbc casualty#i know a lot of this has to do with post 2020 because then drastically changed the production quality of the continuous dramas#none do these big set pieces consistently anymore#and then it is so clear that they had a massive budget cut around the time robyn left#because what like four or five long standing members of the cast left around then#i'll probably come up with more issues as i get further into the show#and i understand why they have made the decision to do the 12 episode boxset but again it's made the show weaker as a result#and yes i'm aware that they only really did these massive set pieces such as the s34 opener as a series opener or closure#but it's just missing a lot of the field work for the paramedics and the seeing pre injury stuff#jess is coming back with her possibly controversial opinions and is once again ready to fight#but for once instead of fighting i just wanna talk and see if anyone else shares the same opinion#i wouldn't mind if the drop in massive set pieces put a focus on character development but i don't think it has#none of the new gang have really been that developed and they had so much promise and they're basically the same#as to what they were when they arrived#also if the new group of fans here wanna follow me i just gotta let you know - i do not care for dylan at all. i just don't and i never wil#but connie is the love of my life and i miss her dearly and ethan is missed as well#also if you read these tags of mine you deserve a medal or smth#don't ask me for one though because i don't have one
